A Conversation With Suzan

What is your title and your duties at the Family Health Clinic?

Director of Operations. I oversee the financial health of the organization and facilitate the success of daily activities conducted at the clinics.

What drew you to the Family Health Clinic originally?

The opportunity to be employed in a setting where I had a passion, which is providing healthcare opportunities to individuals encountering barriers to care.

How has the FHC changed since?

More importantly than what has changed – is what has remained constant…. The mission of our clinics!

What is the favorite part about working for the Family Health Clinic?

When I actually get to interact with patients – even the upset ones!   It helps to ground me on how important our work is and the necessity to strive for operational excellence.

What is one of your proudest moments during your time at the Family Health Clinic?

Helping with the grand openings of the Burlington & Wolcott clinics (I’m looking forward to Monon!!) It is very fulfilling to see the excitement of staff and community members and to know that “I helped” make these opportunities become realities.

Why do you think having health services like the ones the FHC provides is important in the local community?

It is not hard to understand the importance when you actually hear someone say they walked to the clinic & know  they otherwise would not have sought care for themselves or a child.

The memory of taking a young mom & her baby home and to the store to buy some formula after her appointment because she was walking in the rain – will  always stick with me. Stories like this is one is a common occurrence for many of our team members to share.

What do you see in the next twenty years for the Family Health Clinic?

I hope they stay on the same path of steady & pragmatic growth while taking a leadership position to embrace emerging innovations in the healthcare industry.
