A Conversation with Shayna
What drew you to the Family Health Clinic?
I was drawn to the Family Health Clinic because of the small community that it serves. Coming from a small community myself, I know how important it is to have local and quick access to health care. I want to be able to provide more availability to small communities in need of local health care.
What are you most looking forward to about working at the Family Health Clinic?
I’m looking forward to developing relationships with my new patients, their families, and all the staff at the Family Health Clinic.
What is your favorite part of being a nurse practitioner?
My favorite part of being a nurse practitioner is educating patients on preventative care. I enjoy talking with them and educating them about preventative health screenings and how to keep their bodies in optimal health.
Why do you think the Family Health Clinic is important to the local community?
I think that the Family Health Clinic is important to the local community because it allows patients to receive high-quality medical care without having to travel long distances.
What is your specialty and what made you choose that specialty?
My specialty is family medicine. I chose family medicine so I could provide medical care across the whole life span. I wanted to treat not just individuals, but their families as well.
Is there anything else you want to share about yourself?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children. We enjoy outside activities such as swimming, boating, and golfing. We are avid Purdue Boilermaker fans and enjoy attending as many basketball and football events as we can. During my alone time, I enjoy reading fiction novels and riding my bike.
