A Conversation With Jenny

As a Nurse Practitioner, what is your focus?

Making sure our patients never run out of medications and helping them get the preventative services that they need.

What is one of your favorite parts of working in this area?

Being able to sit and talk to my patients.

What are 3 words you’d use to describe the Family Health Clinic?

Family-oriented, community-oriented, dedicated

What do you like most about working at the Family Health Clinic (FHC)?

The people of course–both employees and patients.

What drew you to the FHC originally?

I completed my first and second clinical rotation at the Monon clinic and fell in love with what the clinics stand for and for what we do. I knew this was where I wanted to work.

And how has the FHC changed since?

We have a new building and are much bigger!

What do you like about working in the local community?

I really like how close everyone is.

Why do you think having health services like the ones the FHC provides is important in the local community?

I could go on for pages. We offer so many needed services that most people would be surprised if they were listed out on paper.

What or who inspired you to become a nurse?

I was in college to become a math instructor when my parents retired to Rensselaer ( I still can’t figure out why they chose there), I was kind of lost and my mom talked me into moving to Rensselaer and starting the nursing program. So, both my husband and I packed up and moved to Rensselaer where I became an RN and he became a manager at Chi Chi’s and the rest is history.

Tell us about your family and home life!

I have been with my husband since I was 20. We have been married, divorced and remarried. We have 3 wonderful sons. Bradley who is 24 and in Medical school at Marian University. Matthew, who is 18 and a senior at high school, is a fabulous artist and Martin, who is 15 and a sophomore in high school, is big into sports.

Jenny, we thank you for all of your work for the Family Health Clinic and the local community! We are so happy to have you as part of the Family.
