Family Health Clinic Staff Spotlight: Meet our New Nurse Practitioner, Molly Law

By The Family Health Clinic Team

This month, we’re spotlighting Molly Law, our new Nurse Practitioner! Get to know her better by reading about her previous education, work experience, and our interview with her.

Molly’s Education and Work Experience:

  • I have always had a strong interest in anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology throughout school, and I love being able to help others! I had my heart set on becoming a nurse practitioner at an early age. My family nurse practitioner made a positive impact in my life, and I wanted to be able to do the same for others.
  • I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Purdue University in 2019.
  • Through my public health clinical rotations, I learned about the Family Health Clinic. I accepted a position with the clinic as a registered nurse. I then pursued my Master’s degree at Purdue.
  • Upon graduation, I accepted a position as a resident family nurse practitioner at the Family Health Clinic.

A Conversation with Molly

What drew you to the Family Health Clinic?

My short answer is “the people!” My colleagues at the Family Health Clinic, as well as the patients we care for, are wonderful. The people who make up the Family Health Clinic staff truly care about patients and each other. The teamwork that my colleagues demonstrate, as well as the values we share, make the work we do rewarding.

People will probably recognize you from your time at Family Health Clinic! Can you tell us about your residency at the clinic and switching to your current role here?

I had the wonderful privilege of participating in the residency program at the Family Health Clinic! The goal of the program is to better prepare new nurse practitioners to flourish as healthcare providers, similar to the goal of residency programs for other healthcare disciplines. The residency program enabled me to partner with incredible, seasoned nurse practitioner mentors, who helped support me as I began to care for my own patients. The residency program has also given me the opportunity to shadow physicians from various specialties, which has offered me invaluable insight. I am so grateful for the residency program and my fantastic mentors. I feel that this program has helped prepare me to be the best nurse practitioner I can be.

What is your favorite part of working at the Family Health Clinic?

I love my patients! It is an honor to care for my patients. I very much enjoy getting to partner with my patients and work with them to tackle their healthcare-related concerns and promote their well-being. It is so rewarding to establish relationships with patients and watch them meet their healthcare goals and feel better!

Why do you think the Family Health Clinic is important to the local community?

The Family Health Clinic is important to the community because it helps promote health and well-being for community members. Navigating illness is stressful and often scary!  The Family Health Clinic works hard to provide patients with resources in a compassionate and approachable manner to help patients meet their healthcare needs.  Additionally, the Family Health Clinic helps provides patients with healthcare education with the goal of preventing illness in the community.

What is your specialty (Family, Women’s Health, Children’s Health, etc.) and what made you choose that specialty?

My specialty is Family practice.  I love being able to provide care to patients across their lifespan.  I also find it so rewarding to get to know and build relationships with families as a whole by taking care of multiple family members.

Is there anything else you want to share about yourself? (Hobbies, family life, etc.)

I recently got married.  My husband and I enjoy working on home projects together and spending time with family and friends.  I also enjoy exercising, cooking, and being outdoors.

Molly, we are so happy to have you as part of the Family Health Clinic!
