A CONVERSATION WITH JEAN HERD

As a Nurse Practitioner, what is your focus?

I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner, so I’m able to care for people across the lifespan. I have a special fondness for the geriatric population and have accomplished additional training through the Veterans Administration Geriatric Scholar Program.

What are you’re looking forward to about working at the Family Health Clinic?

I’m excited to be joining the Family Health Clinic where I’ll be able to continue to serve my neighbors. I also look forward to meeting new clients and reestablishing care with prior clients!

What or who inspired you to become a nurse?

From an early age I knew I wanted to work in healthcare as I watched my mother who was a Registered Nurse care for her patients.

Tell us about your family and home life!

My husband Ron and I live on a farm in GrassCreek where we have raised seven children and now enjoy spending time with our six granddaughters. I enjoy the rural life where you know your neighbors and if you break an ankle there are a dozen casseroles at your house before you get back from the emergency room. My pastimes include anything to do with my granddaughters, working in my flower beds, traveling and spending time on the water.
