Meet our New Behavioral Health Specialist Jessica Skinner

By The Family Health Clinic Team

We’re excited to announce that Jessica Skinner is our newest Behavioral Health Specialist! She has worked at the Family Health Clinic for the past five and a half years as the Patient Care Coordinator and has recently completed the transition into her new role.

Learn more about her by reading our interview with her below.

What was the transition from Patient Care Coordinator to Behavioral Health Specialist like?

In my previous position, I managed the many referrals from the Nurse Practitioners that had come from each of our four locations, with the help of a wonderful referral team!

However, within the last few months, I have completed my Masters in Social Work from Simmons College, in Boston MA.  Now as a Behavioral Health Specialist, I am doing many of the intakes for any new behavioral health patient and have started to build a small client base. I see all ages for varying issues such as anxiety, depression, overwhelming life stressors, among others.

Tell us a bit about you and your family!

My husband and I are very active with our four children and all the athletic events they participate in, as well as both of us coaching various sports teams they are on!  Both of us come from big families, so we love spending as much time as we can with all of our parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews! We are also both active in our church and love teaching for the children’s ministry as well as our Vacation Bible School!

What do you like about working in this community?

I have been involved in the community all of my life in various ways from coaching and volunteering, being a member of Tri Kappa, and our children, and nieces and nephews being in the local area schools. This community has always been where I have wanted to call home and proud to be from a small town.

I am very blessed to have a role in our community and at the clinic, where I can make a difference with children and families.  My goal has always been to help promote stronger families to build a stronger community.  I feel with my new position as a Social Worker at the clinic, I am able to do just that!  I look forward to making a positive impact on our community and meeting the needs of others by building a strong, trusting relationship with the patients I see.
