Celebrate National Health Center Week 2018 With Us!

By The Family Health Clinic Team

This year, National Health Center Week is from August 12-18, and as a health center – we’re celebrating! Keep reading to learn more about why health centers are important and to find out what we’re doing this year to celebrate!

WHY ARE HEALTH CENTERS IMPORTANT?

One in every fifteen people living in the United States depends on health center services. Not only that, but Health Centers also continue to be ranked among the highest quality and cost effect care providers in the nation.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HEALTH CENTERS?

We asked our Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator, Barb Hickner, why she thinks it’s important to celebrate health center week and raise awareness about health centers like the Family Health Clinic.

“National Health Center week is an opportunity for health centers to showcase to the community the services provided right in our own backyard.

Health centers provide communities with the ability to go to one facility for a minor illnesses, treatment and diagnosis for chronic conditions, pharmacy services like medication assistance, testing, immunizations, CDL and yearly physical examinations, and more! On top of that, important behavioral health services are also provided, and there’s a Navigator service that can help with insurance and connection to resources.

At the Family Health Clinic, a federally qualified health center, we offer all of these things and more.

I always look forward to sharing the message about health centers while attending community events and outreach activities. It is amazing the number of people that we are able to help who continue to help spread the word to their neighbors, relatives and friends allowing our reach to grow.”

CELEBRATE NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK WITH THE FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC!

FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC MEET & GREET

One main way we’re celebrating National Health Center Week is by being present in the communities we are a part of. Our tent will be raised outside a different clinic each day promoting the week and drawing attention to the importance of health centers across the nation.

Here is where you will be able to find us on the following dates:

Monday, August 13th | Monon
Tuesday, August 14th | Delphi
Wednesday, August 15th | Wolcott
Thursday, August 16th | Burlington

COMMUNITY WALK

Around lunchtime, from 12-1, on Friday, August 17th, the Family Health Clinic staff will take a walk in the communities surrounding our clinics. Feel free to join us for part or all of this walk, or ask questions about who we are and what we do if you see us in your area.

EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION

This is something special we’re doing as the Family Health Clinic, but we wanted to take a time during this Health Center Week to highlight the work, time and dedication of our staff. Many staff members work extra hours, make themselves available at varying locations and always seem to go the extra mile for our patients and co-workers.

Our executive director will be manning the grill each day at one of our clinic locations to prepare lunch for the staff. We are also going to use this week as the kickoff for a new employee appreciation initiative that will continue throughout the year.

A THANK YOU TO THE COMMUNITY

As your community health center, we are so grateful to have been able to serve in this community over the past years, and we look forward to providing care for many years to come.

If you have a story about how the Family Health Clinic has helped you, we would be happy for you to share it below in the comments or on our Facebook page!
